Kind words from some of the families we've cared for over the years.

Firstly I apologise James for the time it’s taken me to write this review, but I know you will understand, because , that’s the person you are! From the very first meeting with James I felt he was by my side for a very sad and traumatic time in my life. We met him at the beautiful orchard and he explained everything to us, including things we didn’t know we could include to say goodbye to my fiancé. James told me I could ring him anytime I needed him and every time i did , he was very helpful, compassionate and very caring and always went above and beyond.  James also took the service for us at Whisby Nature Reserve (one of the things I didn’t know was possible) All the people who attend attended said things like “what a beautiful service”, “ what a lovely man James is” , “ I’ve never been to such a lovely funeral” etc James even chatted / mingled with the guests, which I thought was lovely of him. I would also like to say how nice the food and all the staff were at Whisby, they couldn’t do enough for us.so thank you them also. I couldn’t recommend James and orchard Funerals enough, he most definitely helped me in an extremely difficult time, I don’t think anyone could give a more personal, and extremely caring service in anyway.A heartfelt thank you James

You're probably wondering...

Arranging a funeral often brings questions you've never had to ask before. Here are some of the things families ask us most often. If you can't find the answer you're looking for, just give us a call. We're always happy to help.

What should I do when someone dies? The first step is simply to give us a call. Whether the death has occurred at home, in hospital, in a care home or elsewhere, we'll explain exactly what needs to happen next and guide you through each step. You don't need to have all the answers before you pick up the phone. That's what we're here for.

How quickly can you help? We're available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Once you contact us, we'll arrange for your loved one to be brought into our care as soon as possible and begin making the necessary arrangements with you.

Can I visit my loved one before the funeral? Yes, absolutely. We know that spending time with your loved one can be incredibly important, and we never charge for visits. Viewings take place in our private Chapel of Rest on Redwood Drive, and we'll always do our best to arrange a time that suits you and your family.

Do you embalm? No. We believe in allowing nature to take its course and therefore do not routinely embalm those in our care. For many families, particularly those choosing a natural burial, this approach feels more in keeping with their wishes. If you have any questions about what this means, we'll be happy to explain everything in more detail.

What kind of coffin can we choose? Every funeral includes a simple eco-friendly cardboard casket as standard. If you'd prefer something different, we also offer a wide selection of traditional wooden coffins, beautifully handcrafted natural wicker caskets and bespoke options that can be personalised to reflect your loved one's personality or wishes.
