Can we choose our own florist? Of course. You're welcome to use any florist you wish. If you're unsure where to start, we're also happy to recommend trusted local florists we've worked with over many years.
Where can a funeral be held? Almost anywhere. While we regularly arrange services in churches, crematoria and natural burial grounds, we've also held beautiful farewells in village halls, private gardens and other meaningful places. If somewhere is special to you and your family, let's talk about it. We're always happy to explore what's possible.
Do you provide religious and non-religious funerals? Yes. Most of the funerals we arrange are civil or humanist services, but we're equally experienced in organising Christian and other faith-based funerals. We have strong relationships with many religious communities throughout Lincolnshire and will always respect your beliefs, traditions and wishes.
How can I pay for the funeral? We currently accept bank transfer, cheque and cash. We also regularly work alongside solicitors, banks and the Department for Work and Pensions, and we understand that estates and financial matters can take time to settle. Our priority is making sure your loved one's funeral takes place when it needs to, not adding unnecessary stress during an already difficult time.
Do you offer payment plans or pre-paid funeral plans? We don't actively recommend payment plans or pre-paid funeral plans. Over the years, we've seen many families disappointed to discover that a significant proportion of the money they've paid has been used for administration or management fees rather than the funeral itself. However, if you already have a funeral plan in place, we're more than happy to work with it and ensure your wishes are carried out.
Can you provide keepsakes? Yes. We offer a range of keepsakes including locks of hair, fingerprints, handprints and memory jewellery. We also work with specialist companies who can transform ashes into beautiful diamonds or other lasting memorials if that's something you'd like to explore.
Should children attend a funeral? There's no right or wrong answer. In our experience, children are often remarkably resilient and can cope with funerals far better than adults expect. They ask honest questions, express genuine emotions and often help remind us how natural saying goodbye can be. Our advice is to talk openly with them, explain what's going to happen in simple language and, where appropriate, let them be involved in the decision.
Can pets attend the funeral? Absolutely. Pets are part of the family too, and they often bring a sense of calm and comfort to a funeral. Whether it's a faithful dog accompanying the family or another much-loved companion, we're always happy to welcome them, provided everyone involved is comfortable with the arrangement.
Can we visit The Orchard after the funeral? Yes. The Orchard is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Families are welcome to visit whenever they wish, whether that's early in the morning, at sunset or on a special anniversary. There is ample parking available, and dogs are always welcome too. We simply ask that you clean up after them and take any belongings home with you so The Orchard remains a peaceful place for everyone.
How do I know I'm making the right decisions? This is probably the question we hear most often, even if it isn't always asked out loud. The truth is, there isn't a "right" funeral. There's only the funeral that's right for your loved one and your family. Some people choose a simple direct cremation. Others want a traditional church service, while many find comfort in a natural burial surrounded by trees and wildlife. Our role isn't to tell you what you should do. It's to listen, explain your options honestly and help you make decisions that feel right for you. There is never any pressure, and you'll never be rushed.
